Senior Mechanical Design Manager

Position Summary: The Senior Mechanical Design Manager reports to the Director of Design & Technology and will oversee the PowerFLX design system, manage the 3‑D design software and material databases, allocate resources among the design team, collaborate with EPC teams and clients, and maintain design standards and guidelines. The role is based in the Kansas City office. Reports to: VP PowerFLX Engineering Work Location: 11141 Overbrook Rd #202, Leawood, KS 66211 Position Responsibilities Lead and manage PowerFLX turn‑key EPC projects in the Autodesk Plant 3D environment Collaborate with IT to manage the Autodesk Construction Cloud and model reference files for all disciplines Create and manage databases that feed the model, including pipe codes and project files Work with Project Engineering Management to create baseline schedules and participate in forecast reviews; deep understanding of project controls and earned value management required Design and route piping systems and model 3‑D equipment items for power plant systems including simple‑cycle gas balance‑of‑plant systems Plan and develop drawings for production work, including problem analysis, design layout and calculations Manage and lead a team of multidisciplined designers, allocating resources based on project needs Foster high‑performing teams and behaviors to execute projects Mentor and develop team members, providing technical guidance on projects and disciplines Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies Develop, review and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure design standardization and templating of PowerFLX work Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements Collaborate with construction and start‑up teams for early input and design reviews of piping and mechanical systems Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in drafting technology, design or related fields Eight (8) years of related work experience Advanced proficiency with 2‑D and 3‑D applications to prepare engineering drawings Advanced understanding of design software such as Plant 3D, E3D, SCADA, Smartplant 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation and Excel; ability to learn new design software Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex information to all levels Ability to multi‑task and manage numerous projects/tasks within aggressive timelines Independently apply knowledge and ensure compliance with quality programs; establish processes and promote a culture conducive to quality; provide guidance and direction to others; support continuous improvement and change management Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker Proactively provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems and applicable engineering codes Advanced mechanical discipline knowledge; competent in fundamental concepts of related disciplines and operating design software required for production tasks Ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers and constructability personnel to resolve design issues Perform work safely and effectively; follow instructions, warning signs, equipment use, and other policies Work during normal operating hours; work overtime and weekends as required Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension) U.S. work authorization required; sponsorship not considered Satisfactory pre‑employment drug screen and background check Desired Qualifications Previous lead or senior designer experience in EPC power industry (mechanical discipline) Experience with Aconex Document Controls software Clear understanding of construction and constructability practices Working knowledge of proposal and estimate process technical aspects Owner or client engineering background It is PROENERGY’s policy to provide equal opportunity in employment to all its employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, national origin, marital status, ancestry, medical condition, military status or any other characteristic protected by State or Federal law. #J-18808-Ljbffr PROENERGY
