This is a great opportunity for an early-career journalist who wants a range of experiences at a national digital news outlet. You will learn how to pitch and write news stories under tight timelines and gain valuable experience working in a fast-moving newsroom environment. This summer intern will cover a variety of exciting stories including The World Cup. We’re looking for someone to write short articles on news topics and report out rankings-related stories for our Best Countries and Best States sections. We’re also interested in candidates who have strong social media skills, including making video content for TikTok and visually compelling posts for Instagram. Experience with data visualization and graphic design is a huge plus. Are you up to the challenge? Responsibilities Pitch, report and write short articles based on the news cycle. Assist with launches, such as the Best Countries launch or the Best States launch, if they occur during your tenure. Actively and enthusiastically participate in trainings and team activities. Research topics, interviewees, dates and other elements of newsletter content. Perform fact checking and copy editing. Assist with research or administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Interest in news, politics, demographics. Comfortable working with data. Familiar with content management systems. Able to juggle multiple assignments. Ability to work as a team under tight deadlines. Experience working at a college newspaper or its equivalent. Eligible candidates must be one of the following: Undergraduate students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors, rising seniors and seniors set to graduate in May and graduate students) enrolled at an accredited college or university Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university including students set to graduate in May 2026 Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace Effective communicator in both written and spoken English Good oral and written communication skills Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs 3.0 GPA or above preferred Summer Intern Program Description 10 weeks; starting on Monday, June 1, 2026 through Friday, Aug 7, 2026 We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday All candidates must be able to work a hybrid in-office schedule from our New York office Internship pays $17.95 per hour Interns will be paired with a buddy (a mentor) in their office location for the duration of their internship. #J-18808-Ljbffr
