We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Buyer . This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and will work in Sparta, TN. About the position As Buyer of the Sparta team, you will be involved in purchasing quality products for our Marine business. Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. Your main responsibilities Purchase quality products and materials. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders. Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels. Establish safety stock level per component demands. Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery. Analyze trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions. Review planned orders and generate PO’s. Monitor the order cycle with suppliers and ensure that delivery is done in accordance with contract specifications. Manage planning exceptions and take actions to resolve. Report and recommend actions to utilize excess/obsolete inventory. Report to management key performance indicators for product line activity. Execute planning policies from management. Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required. Execute planning policies from management. Provide strategic insights to drive growth and performance through the creation and maintenance of sourcing, ERP planning / purchasing systems. Be aware of, and, immediately react to, major demand swings as it relates to inventory levels and associated lead times of supply. Provide insight and recommendations to both the Supply Chain Manager and Operations team on major areas of improvement. Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff and stakeholders. Build strong collaborative partnership with various internal teams, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, customer service, sales, R&D, etc. What do we offer?
