Job Overview City/State: Newport News, VA Work Shift: First (Days) Position: Certified Medical Assistant – SMG Internal Medicine Port Warwick. Full-time | Monday – Friday 40 hours per week. Typical schedule: approximately 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., depending on provider workflow. Up to a $5,000 sign‑on bonus available for eligible candidates. Job Responsibilities Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under the direction or supervision of the physician, NP/PA, RN, or LPN. Ensure patient, visitor, and employee safety; identify, address, and incorporate safety principles. Administer patient care tasks and procedures, and appropriate administrative duties. Assess situations, consider alternatives, assist in development of realistic action plans, and evaluate outcomes. Develop specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants; maintain effective inter‑departmental interactions; follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Operate efficiently in daily operations, utilizing safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible resources. Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalency. Must have one of the following on first day of employment: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B), or BLS within 90 days of hire date.
