Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Job Summary:

The Cardiac Progressive Care Nurse provides specialized nursing care to cardiac patients, including those post-cardiac catheterization and those with congestive heart failure or arrhythmias. This role involves managing complex cardiac and respiratory issues in a high-acuity environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring, ensuring accurate assessment and response to cardiac rhythms.
  
  
• 
  Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, including managing PICC lines, peripheral lines, and related infusions.
  
  
• 
  Perform post-procedure care for cardiac catheterizations, including pre- and post-op assessments and monitoring.
  
  
• 
  Manage respiratory support devices such as external CPAP and BIPAP, along with chest tube and tracheostomy care.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with rapid response teams and assist in emergent interventions to stabilize patient condition.
  
  
• 
  Document patient care activity accurately within EMR systems, including EPIC, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Cardiac PCU or similar setting.
  
  
• 
  Strong proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing cardiac telemetry.
  
  
• 
  Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIH preferred.
  
  
• 
  Experience with cardiac procedures, drips, and respiratory support devices.
  
  
• 
  Ability to remain adaptable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, including floating to various campuses as needed.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrated competency in using EPIC EMR system and passing EKG compliance exam.
