Senior Project Manufacturing Engineer Location US-TX-Austin Overview As a Manufacturing Engineer at Lutron, you will contribute to high‑stakes projects from the start, helping to preserve our market position as the world leader in smart lighting and shading systems. You will design efficient assembly processes, support new products from prototype through full production, and work side‑by‑side with product design, production, and tooling experts. Key Technical Areas Assembly process development and optimization, including time studies, production line balancing, and pareto/defect analysis Development and documentation of standard work procedures and product manufacturing process notebooks Specification of requirements for tooling and workstations Application of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly principles and effective feedback to product design teams throughout the design cycle Project management of logistics and coordination between engineering, operations, and manufacturing plant Industry standard techniques and best practices for manufacturing quality improvement, such as Six Sigma Responsibilities Work collaboratively with product design, production plant, and tooling teams to design consumer products for high‑volume manufacturability Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) concepts to analyze new products Execute assembly line design and process development to meet labor and quality goals Support production of new products, from prototype builds through transfer to long‑term facility Collect and analyze process quality data for presentation to key stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 1–3 years’ experience in a related field Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) experience preferred Willingness to travel to oversee manufacturing and support product transfer to long‑term build facilities Lutron Electronics is an Equal Opportunity/affirmative action employer.
