Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant – ConstructionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial operations of a growing construction company. This position will play a key role in month-end close, project accounting, job costing, financial reporting, and general ledger management. The ideal candidate will have previous construction accounting experience and a strong understanding of project-based accounting.Key Responsibilities:Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processesPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general ledger activityPerform balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliationsManage and analyze construction job costing, including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overheadReview project costs against budgets and investigate significant variancesAssist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion accountingMonitor project profitability, margins, committed costs, and cost-to-complete estimatesPartner with Project Managers to review project financial performance and ensure accurate job cost reportingAssist with construction billing, including progress billings, retention/retainage, and change ordersReview subcontractor and vendor invoices for proper coding and allocation to projectsSupport Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as neededAssist with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedulesPrepare financial statements and supporting schedules for managementAssist with cash flow reporting, budgeting, and forecastingSupport annual audits and provide schedules and documentation to external auditorsMaintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and proceduresIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reportingAssist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed
