Substitute School Nurse

Requirements:

• Hold a valid New Jersey RN Licensure
• Preferred: Valid NJ School Nurse Certification from the NJ Department of Education
• Expertise in school health nursing practice and emergency procedures
• Record of successful school nurse experience preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, wellness education, community health and social service resources, and current health issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Performs the school nurse functions of administering health care service to students
• Administers the required health screening for students
• Administers medications following procedural guidelines
• Compiles and maintains the cumulative health record for each student in the building to assure accurate and complete health records are available
• Provides emergency or immediate first aid, initiates the incident/accident report, and follows-up on all personnel injured on school property
