As an essential member of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant will provide both administrative and clinical support to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. The MA should deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care, enhancing clinic efficiency, and contributing to an outstanding patient experience. This position also offers the opportunity to be cross trained in patient registration and medical records support, as needed.Teammates must be willing and able to work assigned shifts at multiple clinic locations and drive between clinics as needed to support patient care and business operations. Mileage will be reimbursed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Live and exemplify Starling Oncology core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff members.Participate in company initiatives and team activitiesResponsible for documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) system(s)Requesting external medical records and preparing patient charts prior to patient appointmentsPerforming and documenting patient vital signsCompleting review of systems and intake documentationPreparing patients for physician careAdministering basic first aidPerforming venipunctures and non-intravenous injectionsPerforming basic laboratory proceduresObserving and reporting patients' signs or symptomsAble to serve as a chaperone in patient examinations as neededAssisting with patient examinations, procedures, or treatmentsAdministering certain medications as directed by the physicianOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Proficiency in completing blood draws and processing labsExperience, Education and/or Training:High school graduate or GEDCompletion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute. Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required.2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related role in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred.BLS and CPR certification preferred.Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) and English required.Physical Working Requirements:This position involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, performance of precise tasks like drawing blood and administering medications, and occasionally, lifting of up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and acute hearing are essential for reading charts and monitoring patients. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are critical, especially under stress.
