Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Summary:
Supports clinical laboratory operations by performing routine and specialized tests, including specimen preparation, culture reading, Gram stains, and molecular testing. Ensures accurate, timely results while maintaining strict quality control and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine laboratory procedures such as plating, Gram staining, and rapid PCR setup.
• Read and interpret culture results, identify abnormal findings, and document data accurately.
• Conduct molecular testing using BioFire Torch panels and Cepheid assays.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventive maintenance, and resolve technical issues.
• Communicate complex technical information clearly to team members and healthcare professionals.
• Support training of laboratory staff in routine procedures and participate in continuing education.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant scientific discipline.
• Be certified as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent.
• Possess at least 3 years of experience in microbiology and molecular testing.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Gram stain reading, culture plating, and molecular testing platforms.
• Have experience with BioFire and Cepheid assays is highly preferred.
• Be eligible for South Carolina licensure or hold an active license.
