Registered Nurse - PreOp

Job Description

Job Summary:

The PreOp Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients prior to surgical procedures. They prepare patients for surgery, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal readiness for the operating room.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' medical histories and current health status to determine readiness for surgery.
• Develop and implement individualized preoperative care plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
• Educate patients and their families about procedures, postoperative expectations, and post-discharge care.
• Monitor and communicate patient status during preoperative phase, providing interventions as needed.
• Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, safety standards, and documentation requirements using EPIC.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate smooth patient transitions and optimal care delivery.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid California RN license verified through Nursys.
• Have a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in preoperative or ambulatory surgery settings.
• Hold current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS from recognized providers.
• Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system.
• Strongly prefer experience with Ambulatory Surgery/Phase II and high-tech outpatient environments.
