Nursing Director- Neuroscience- Neuro ICU BWH

Job Summary Full Time / 40 Hours / Main Campus. Join the leadership team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a top-ranked hospital in Neurology and Neurosurgery. Oversee approximately 20 bed neurosciences ICU, including neurology and neurosurgery service lines and a float pool. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services at the location. Responsibilities Evaluate and supervise staff based on mutually agreed‑upon goals in job descriptions. Implement strategies to enhance retention and reduce turnover. Promote a safe and positive working environment. Ensure RN supervisors/clinical care managers are aware of updated policies and procedures. Prepare departmental budget and operate within budgetary guidelines. Assign patients for day‑to‑day management to nursing coordinators and/or Nursing Supervisors/Managers. Lead and coach staff as a clinical leader and mentor. Promote staff participation in goal setting, decision making, and committees. Design and implement staffing patterns responsive to a dynamic care environment. Interview, hire, and oversee orientation of new employees. Provide ongoing formal and informal feedback regarding performance and professional development. Maintain a fair and just culture and an inclusive environment for patients and families. Develop and implement quality and patient outcomes agenda, including data monitoring, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate across clinical and operational areas, ensuring effective coordination of resources. Manage budgets, including operating and capital budget submissions. Supervise Nurse Managers, RNs, LPNs, and clinical support personnel. Report directly to the BWH Associate Chief Nurse/Senior Nurse Director with dual reporting to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations (Radiation Oncology). Qualifications Current registration/licensure in nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. MSN, DNP, PhD, or BSN with a related Master’s degree required. Certification required or to be attained within two years of hire; must be maintained while employed. Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing management experience preferred. Experience with neurology, neuroscience, or neuro‑ICU preferred. Demonstrated evidence of exemplary nursing practice. Recent experience as a nurse leader responsible for collaboration in a highly matrixed leadership structure helpful. Skills, Abilities & Competencies Strong partnership and collaboration with other nursing directors. Demonstrated clinical competence in nursing practice. Analytical skills to organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of others; develop, administer policies, procedures, and budgets. Interpersonal skills sufficient for effective leadership, patient, visitor, physician interactions, and collaboration across departments. Management and leadership skills effective with multiple staff levels. Location & Work Conditions Onsite: 75 Francis Street. Works in a variety of patient care environments with exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials (chemotherapeutic agents, blood, radioisotopes, radiation). Work requires walking and lifting. 40 hours per week. Pay & Benefits Annual pay range: $147,097.60 – $213,959.20.
