Job Details Job Location: Main Facility - HQ - Oklahoma City, OK 73104 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage: Up to 25% Job Shift: Day Job Category: Executive Overview It’s My Community Initiative (IMCI) is a 501 (c)(3) non‑profit organization in Oklahoma City with a mission of developing and expanding efforts to strengthen communities by building strong, healthy families. IMCI spearheads community projects, tackling issues of health, education, and employment, in partnership with other community‑based organizations and through programs funded by corporate partners, federal, state, and local governments, and philanthropic organizations. IMCI offers programs that serve a number of special population groups, including the historically unemployed or underemployed, individuals with a criminal background including those reentering communities from incarceration, incumbent workers, veterans and low‑skilled or low‑wage workers. IMCI also works with TRUE Dads and Safe Families Oklahoma. TRUE Dads is a free program in Oklahoma City that helps dads be the kind of father they want to be. Safe Families Oklahoma, a project managed by It’s My Community Initiative, is a mission‑driven, innovative strategy for offering temporary living solutions for children. We focus on minimizing the risk for abuse or neglect, while giving vulnerable parents the time they need to help their families thrive, through the engagement of churches and a volunteer network of host families, coaches, and family friends. Position Summary The Executive Director is the organization’s chief executive officer and is accountable to the Board of Directors. This leader provides strategic, operational, financial, and community leadership and ensures that the mission is carried out through effective programs, responsible stewardship, strong compliance systems, and trusted partnerships. The Executive Director leads the senior management team, oversees the organization’s budget and government‑funded programs, builds relationships with public and private partners, and serves as the organization’s primary representative in the community. Essential Job Functions Organizational Leadership Provide clear, mission‑centered leadership and translate the strategic plan into measurable priorities and results. Partner with the Board and senior leaders to evaluate community needs, organizational capacity, risks, and opportunities. Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, respect, learning, and continuous improvement. Ensure policies, systems, staffing, and resources support high‑quality and sustainable service delivery. Lead organizational change and communicate decisions clearly to employees and stakeholders. Board Governance and Relations Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and support effective nonprofit governance. Provide timely, accurate reports on strategy, programs, finances, compliance, risk, workforce matters, and community impact. Assist with board meeting preparation, committee work, policy development, board education, and recruitment. Implement Board‑approved policies and promptly communicate material concerns, opportunities, or compliance issues. Financial Leadership and Sustainability Oversee the organization’s financial health, annual operating budget, cash flow, reserves, and long‑term sustainability. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, appropriate internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit accounting requirements. Partner with financial staff, auditors, legal counsel, funders, banks, and other professional advisors. Monitor financial and operational performance and take timely corrective action when results vary from plans. Identify opportunities to diversify revenue while protecting the organization’s mission and contractual commitments. Government Contracts, Grants, and Compliance Oversee administration of federal, state and other publicly funded contracts and grants. Ensure compliance with contract terms, budgets, allowable‑cost rules, performance measures, reporting deadlines, and monitoring requirements. Maintain systems for documentation, quality assurance, records retention, audit readiness, and corrective‑action follow‑through. Monitor public policy, funding priorities, procurement opportunities, and regulatory changes that may affect the organization. Promote coordination among program, finance, human resources, data, and contract‑management functions. Program Quality and Community Impact Ensure programs are responsive to community needs and produce meaningful, measurable outcomes. Use data, participant feedback, contract requirements, and community input to evaluate quality and improve services. Ensure services are delivered with dignity, respect, accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and appropriate safeguards. Evaluate proposed programs, partnerships, and service expansions for mission alignment, impact, capacity, risk, and financial sustainability. Promote meaningful engagement with residents and community stakeholders in Northeast Oklahoma City. Fundraising and Resource Development Lead a practical resource‑development strategy that complements the organization’s primary government‑contract revenue. Cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, individual donors, community partners, and public‑sector leaders. Participate in grant development, donor stewardship, sponsorships, campaigns, special events, and Board‑supported fundraising. Clearly communicate the organization’s mission, results, funding needs, and community value. People and Culture Recruit, supervise, coach, and retain a high‑performing senior leadership team. Ensure clear roles, performance expectations, succession planning, professional development, and leadership continuity. Foster an inclusive and respectful workplace that reflects the organization’s values and the community it serves. Ensure compliance with employment laws, personnel policies, workplace‑safety requirements, and sound human‑resources practices. Monitor employee engagement, staffing capacity, compensation pressures, and other workforce risks. Community Leadership and External Relations Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson and a visible, trusted representative in the community. Build strategic relationships with residents, government officials, funders, service providers, businesses, schools, faith communities, and civic organizations. Represent the organization in public forums, coalitions, media opportunities, and community events. Advocate for policies and investments that improve opportunity and outcomes for underserved individuals and families while following applicable legal requirements for nonprofit advocacy. Risk Management Oversee enterprise risk management, legal and contractual matters, insurance coverage, data protection, incident response, and continuity planning. Ensure timely response to audits, monitoring visits, investigations, complaints, and corrective‑action plans. Maintain appropriate escalation and reporting procedures for significant risks or events. Qualifications Education/Training Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social work, nonprofit management, finance, human services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and senior‑level experience. Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including responsibility for people, budgets, programs, and organizational results. Experience leading senior managers and working effectively with a governing board. Experience working with historically underserved communities and community‑led initiatives. Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial oversight, organizational management, and partnership development. Commitment to serving communities experiencing economic hardship and to working respectfully with residents and partners in Northeast Oklahoma City. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, social work, nonprofit leadership, or a related field. Executive leadership experience in a nonprofit, social‑services, community‑development, or government‑contracting environment. Knowledge of federal and state grant or contract compliance, nonprofit finance, and performance‑based service delivery. Knowledge of Oklahoma’s social‑services landscape, public funding systems, and community networks. Fundraising, grant development, donor stewardship, or public‑private partnership experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strategic leadership and sound judgment in complex operating environments. Strong financial, operational, contractual, and risk‑management skills. Knowledge of nonprofit governance and the respective roles of the Board and Executive Director. Ability to interpret contracts, budgets, performance data, policies, and regulatory requirements. Excellent written, verbal, public‑speaking, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to lead through change, resolve conflict, set priorities, and make timely decisions. Cultural humility and the ability to build trust across differences and within the communities served. High standards of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical conduct. Special Requirements Work is performed in an office and community‑based environment, with regular interaction with employees, participants, partners, and the public. Occasional evening and weekend meetings or events are required. Local travel and occasional statewide or out‑of‑state travel may be required. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Essential Physical Requirements Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility.
