Business Development Manager

MATTIO Communications: NYC or LA-based, remote NYC or LA-based remote Business Development Manager role with regular in-person work: local networking at conferences and events. The Role We're hiring a Business Development Manager to generate and qualify new business for the agency across all of our service lines. This is a sourcing and pipeline role: you'll find prospects, open conversations, and book qualified meetings for our senior team to close. You own the top and middle of the funnel, and you're measured on the quality and volume of opportunities you create. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on business development, works well independently, and is motivated by performance-based earnings. You’re naturally curious about emerging industries, innovative companies, and the trends shaping what's next, with an instinct for spotting new business opportunities. What You'll Do Build and work a pipeline of prospective clients across PR, social media, influencer, SEO and GEO, and content Run outbound: targeted email, LinkedIn, calls, and in-person networking at industry events and conferences Research target industries and companies to identify who's a fit and why, then tailor the outreach accordingly Qualify inbound and outbound leads, understand a prospect's needs, and book meetings with initial prospective clients for senior leadership Represent MATTIO in person at trade shows, mixers, and category events to source relationships and referrals Keep the CRM clean and current, and report on pipeline, activity, and conversion Partner with account and leadership teams to hand off qualified opportunities smoothly and share market intel back What We're Looking For A demonstrated track record of taking prospects from first outreach to booked meeting to signed client 3 or more years in business development, sales, or partnerships, ideally at an agency or in a services/marketing environment A genuine self-starter who can build a pipeline from a standing start and stay motivated without daily direction Working familiarity with the services you'll be selling: PR, social, influencer, SEO and GEO, and content. You don't need to be a practitioner, but you need to speak the language credibly Strong outbound instincts and comfort opening cold conversations in writing, on the phone, and in person Excellent written and verbal communication, and a real ear for tailoring a message to the person receiving it Organized and CRM-disciplined, with the follow-through to move opportunities forward Comfortable at in-person events and confident networking a room Nice to Have Experience selling into or working within wellness, CPG, lifestyle, cannabis or other regulated or emerging industries An existing network or book of relationships you can activate Familiarity with tools like a Monday, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or prospecting platforms #J-18808-Ljbffr
