General Requirements

• Experience:
  • 2-3 years acute care OR experience required
  • Hybrid IR Tech requires 3+ years hybrid experience
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Patient Ratio: 1:1

Patient Population & Surgical Specialties

The surgical department handles high-acuity and trauma cases including:

General OR

• Trauma cases (GSW, stabbings)
• General surgery
• Gynecology
• Urology
• Orthopedics
• Neurosurgery
• Robotic surgery
• Vascular surgery

Cardiovascular / Transplant

• Open heart surgery
• CABG procedures
• Kidney and heart transplants
• Donor procurement cases

Hybrid OR (CV/Vascular)

Handles 5-10 cases per day Examples include:

• TAVR
• AAA repairs
• Endarterectomies
• Angiograms
• Fistula revisions

Pediatric Cases

Approximately 20% pediatric population Examples:

• Pediatric open heart
• Appendectomy
• Cholecystectomy

Note: No liver or lung transplants performed.

The facility also participates in organ donation procedures through Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.

Hybrid IR Tech

• Trauma experience (Level I or II preferred)

• Scrub and circulate adult or pediatric open-heart cases

CST / CVOR Tech

• Scrubbing complex OR and cardiac cases

Hybrid IR Tech

• Experience with hybrid vascular procedures
• Siemens imaging systems experience

Unit Support Structure

• Charge Nurse (no patient assignment during weekdays)
• Resource Nurse
• Anesthesiologists providing bedside monitoring
• Surgeons with detailed preference cards

Orientation

Orientation typically includes:

Day 1

• Meet educators and Assistant Nurse Manager
• Login setup

• Unit orientation and workflow training

Scheduling

Shift Options

Multiple scheduling patterns available:

• 3 12-hour shifts
• 2 12-hour + 2 8-hour shifts
• 5 8-hour shifts

Example shift times:

• 06:45 - 15:15
• 14:45 - 19:15
• 22:45 - 07:15

Hybrid / IR Tech schedules:

• Monday - Thursday
• 8-10 hour shifts

OR Operating Hours

• Monday-Friday: 07:30 - 23:00
• After 23:00 ? skeleton crew for trauma/urgent cases

Weekend OR Hours

• 07:00 - 17:00
• After 17:00 ? skeleton crew

The OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year .

Weekend Rotation

• Every 4th weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

On-Call Requirements

• Depends on service line and shift
• 30-minute response time
• Sleep room available for on-call staff
