As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.Required Qualifications:One year of recent experience as a PICU RNValid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ARC) certificationPALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certificationPreferred Qualifications:ACLS (AHA/ARC) certificationCCRN certificationOther certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The PICU Registered Nurse provides advanced specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in high acuity settings. This role includes comprehensive patient assessment, implementing complex care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The position requires strong pediatric critical care skills, advanced clinical judgment, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics in pediatric intensive care.Essential Work Functions:Explain procedures and treatments to pediatric patients and their families to ensure understanding, cooperation, and emotional support during critical situationsAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved pediatric nursing techniques and protocolsPrepare and operate advanced medical equipment, including ventilators, central line setups, and hemodynamic monitors, while assisting physicians during treatments and examinationsContinuously observe and evaluate patient conditions, record significant findings, and promptly notify physicians of critical changes or adverse reactions to treatmentsMonitor and interpret vital signs and other clinical data to detect deviations from normal, initiating rapid interventions when necessaryRespond to life-saving situations based upon pediatric nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to intensive careInitiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient and family, as prescribed by a physician and/or hospital policyDocument all relevant history and physical assessments for assigned patients accurately in medical recordsPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
