Job Description Summary:

Position Responsibilities

• States name & informs patient on where they are to be transported.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
• Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers and ensure equipment is clean and in safe operating conditions.
• Notifies nursing staff when patient is leaving the unit and when patient returns back to the unit.
• Ensures that patient's chart is alongside when being transported
• Assures all transports are completed within the time parameters assignments.
• Collects all specimens and blood products ands safety delivers to the receiving department.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude when transporting & speaking to patients
• Checks all oxygen cylinders prior to transport to assure tanks are full and are in safe condition.
• Correctly checks in and out of the patient transport system, and input the correct pager number when checking into work.
• Maintains CPR Certification.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification
  
  • CPR required or must be obtained while in training.
• Education
  
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience
  
  • Customer service ability, develop cooperative working relationship with other staff members and all other personnel. Ability to transport patients in a safe, efficient and professional manner. Ability to operate portable radio. Skills in reading and writing standard English text.
