Description: Please ensure your traveler is aware of the following responsibilities. Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an emergency team. There will be an expectation to remain at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed during each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract to take a position, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above expectations. The unit comprises cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, general surgery, medicine overflow, and cardiac overflow. High acuity ICU experience is required, with a focus on post-operative recovery care. Preferred skills include caring for patients who have undergone CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection. Required skills include accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, and care of ventilated patients. You should also be familiar with managing central lines, conducting phlebotomy, and interpreting arterial blood gases. Previous experience with the management of post-operative patients from cardiac surgery is essential. The facility supports an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. You may be required to float to other ICUs and step-down units. Please ensure that references and documentation are available for clearance to start the contract.
