JOB TITLE : Paralegal

SALARY RANGE : $47,000-$62,000

SUMMARY

This role supports the attorney and other paralegals by preparing legal documents, assisting clients, coordinating with legal professionals, and performing related casework. The paralegal builds and maintains professional relationships with clients, court personnel, law firm contacts, and colleagues. The role also helps improve the client experience by streamlining processes and delivering excellent service.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Work Experience

· Previous customer service experience, reception, or sales experience, preferably in an office setting

· Previous experience as a paralegal or in the legal field preferred.

Education

· Associate’s degree or higher preferred; equivalent paralegal education and relevant on-the-job experience will be considered.

Technical Skills

· Knowledge of computers and computer systems, typing, and data entry, and phone systems

· Proficient at Microsoft Office (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel), Dropbox. Preferably knowledge of legal databases and case management software.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepare petitions, motions, etc., and organize and maintain documents in electronic filing system.

· Assist clients in gathering discovery, sending discovery, hearing preparation, and communicating deadlines.

· Manage case docket and relevant deadlines, and assist in trial and hearing preparation such as organizing exhibits and drafting motions.

· Meet and correspond with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case.

· File pleadings with court.

· Direct and coordinate law office activity, including process of service.

· Set up, maintain and organize clients and case records, including scanning, printing, copying, preparing, sending, and filing client, court, and other relevant business documents.

· Assist the office as needed such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.

· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional tone and format, and comfortable speaking on the phone.

· Must possess strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with attention to detail.

· Can establish, develop, and maintain interpersonal relationships with others.

· Ability to make decisions and solve problems, resolve conflicts, think creatively, and explain information effectively.

· Adhere and act in accordance with legal ethical standards as outlined by the State Bar of Arizona.
