Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit In the Bryan School of Business & Economics, we create and disseminate knowledge about the theory and practice of business. Position Summary The Graduate Academic Advisor position is a permanent position that will report to the Administrative Director of Graduate Programs in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The primary areas of responsibility will be to serve as a Graduate Program Advisor and contribute to improved retention, time-to-degree, and student satisfaction outcomes for students in the MBA Program and its affiliated certificates. Manage advising caseload reflective of current MBA enrollments Manage online student engagement Manage professional development programming Participate in recruitment activities and advise prospective students interested in the Accelerated Masters Program and the Dual Registration track Serve as chapter advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, and Spartan Women in Business Manage study abroad programming and course (MBA 745) planning Plan events like Beta Gamma Sigma ceremony, Graduation networking celebrations etc. Support orientation events Support Graduate Programs Office Operations Other duties as assigned Employee attributes needed for success in this role Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities or projects in a fast-paced work environment Willingness to embrace innovative advising practices using technologies. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution and experience contributing to student success initiatives in a higher education setting. Proven experience working with diverse populations in a higher education setting. Experience working within the field of academic advising or in developing and implementing services/initiatives to support students’ success, and retention. Preferred Qualifications Higher Education experience working with graduate students/programs, especially with online or adult learners. Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Ellucian BANNER), and Canvas. Meet with and advise prospective AMP and Dual Registration students. Manage study abroad programming and course (MBA 745) planning. Present at recruiting events and connect with students early in the recruitment stage. Maintain accuracy and currency of MBA Advising and resources webpage and student onboarding org in Canvas in support of advising outcomes. Student Engagement and Professional Development Student Engagement and Professional Development Essential Tasks Programming to support and engage all online MBA students both early career and experienced track. Manage programming for early career MBA students’ professional development (peer ambassador program, workshops, other non-curricular support). Serve as chapter advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, Spartan Women in Business, and any other forthcoming graduate student chapter. Manage graduate student professional development funding process and tracking. Event Operations Event Operations Essential Tasks Plan and execute BGS chapter recognition ceremony. Plan and execute graduation celebration. Other student engagement events as needed. Program Operations Program Operations Essential Tasks Maintain master records for capstone course, internship placements, etc. Support office operations in the areas of purchasing, room reservations, syllabi collection, and monitoring general MBA inbox.
