Patient Care Technician - Medical/Surgical

Job Purpose The Patient Care Technician provides basic nursing care to patients, transports patients within the hospital, and monitors a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Technician provides clerical support, including order entry, as the patient care and patient flow requires. Work and Responsibilities Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure and standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Education High school diploma or equivalent. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific groups, which include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Licensure / Certification / Registration None at start. Basic Life Support certification within six (6) months of hire, three (3) months for ECC and Float Pool positions. Experience One (1) year experience as a Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience in healthcare setting. Preferred Experience Previous Medical/Surgical experience.
