Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Nursing Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 11.5 hours, 3 days per week, Every Other Weekend Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. - 2 years of post-open heart and cardiac care unit experience. - 1 year of travel experience for travel positions preferred. License: - Client Registered Nurse License Certifications: - BLS Must-Have: - Excellent organizational skills - ICU experience Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care. Delegates tasks to others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. Demonstrates effective allocation of material resources. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through facilitation of various patient care actions. Considers the patient’s values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients’ perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions. Supports staff in using evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions. Conducts purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients addressing key patient needs. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional evidence-based procedures. Engages in peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and research studies. Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures. Implements principles of high reliability to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps from best practice protocols. Documents nursing practice accurately to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates with management to ensure supplies are utilized appropriately. Escalates resource deficiencies to the appropriate management personnel. Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective care approaches. Documents in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the clinical environment to support colleagues, patients, and families. Advances clinical competence to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image and communicates with respect, compassion, and empathy. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families.
