Aquinas Consulting has an immediate need to fill a Technical Field Service Group Leader job at a growing manufacturer of high-tech electro-mechanical production equipment located in southern CT. Our client manufactures industry leading specialized machinery in a very in-demand industry and has been growing regularly over the past decade.

As the Technical Field Service Group Leader, you will oversee the daily operations of the Service Department and report directly to the Service Manager. You will lead a team of service technicians, ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery that meets organizational goals and customer expectations. The Field Service Leader will also be involved in hands-on maintenance of equipment in house and in the field when key clients are involved.

Overview:

• Supervise and support the service technician team to drive operational excellence.
• Oversee technical support and troubleshooting for customers and internal inquiries.
• Conduct repair evaluations and ensure timely, accurate resolution of service issues.
• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with internal departments to align service activities with business objectives.
• Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Technical Field Service Group Leader Job responsibilities:

1. Technical Support
   Provide expert-level technical assistance to customers and internal teams via phone and email. Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly and effectively on an as-needed basis.
2. Repair and Spare Parts Management
   Coordinate repair evaluations and generate accurate quotes for repairs and spare parts. Oversee the repair process to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with the supply chain and inventory teams to maintain adequate spare parts stock and fulfill service requirements.
3. Refurbishment Operations
   Perform and/or supervise equipment refurbishments, ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely delivery.
4. Equipment Testing and Inventory Management
   Supervise testing of purchased equipment and manage inventory for used equipment, ensuring accuracy and availability.
5. Customer and Internal Training
   Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and service capabilities for both customers and internal staff.
6. Onsite Service Coordination
   Schedule and coordinate onsite service visits, managing logistics, space requirements, and service workloads efficiently.
7. Administrative Support
   Maintain the RGA system, review service orders for accuracy, and manage documentation related to warranties, rework, and no-charge orders as needed.
8. Sales and Support Activities
   Provide internal sales support, process sales leads, and offer consulting services related to used equipment purchases as needed.
9. Quality Control and Compliance
   Ensure all service and repair activities comply with relevant quality standards and regulations. Perform quality control checks on ultrasonic systems and contribute to future ultrasonic-related initiatives.
10. Facilities and Equipment Maintenance
    Oversee maintenance of lab equipment, service vehicles, and facilities. Coordinate plating drop-offs and pickups, ensuring proper coverage and scheduling.
11. Process Improvement and Innovation
    Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to support product development, process enhancements, and innovation efforts.

Qualifications:

Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or tech school diploma is a plus.

• 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in electrical / mechanical repair, maintenance and servicing of machinery or equipment is desired.
• Proven leadership experience in a technical service environment.
• Strong technical acumen and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities as well as strong computer skills are necessary.
• The ability to train, schedule and oversee technicians is essential.
