Title: Career Coach – Education Support Specialist II (Position Code 29143‑SW). Classifies as part‑time, up to 20 hours per week. Hourly rate $22.50. Location: Frederick (069). Pay band 03. Employment type: Administrative Support, non‑exempt. Job Overview This career coach serves as the primary advising resource for high‑school students, guiding Uniform Certificate of General Studies (UCGS) pathways, coordinating dual enrollment processes, and collaborating with school staff, families, and Laurel Ridge Community College partners within a Coordinated Care Network. Responsibilities Facilitate dual enrollment registration, support college applications, ensure completion of required documentation, and communicate consistently with students, families and staff. Advise students on academic and career planning, including career assessments, post‑secondary pathways, workforce entry, and participation in work‑based learning experiences. Maintain current knowledge of college programs, complete required training and reporting, and collaborate with school and college personnel to ensure effective dual enrollment implementation. Perform other duties as assigned, including emergency support and assistance to the agency or state government during emergency declarations. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. Qualifications Experience utilizing oral and written communication skills in presentations and reports. Computer technology experience – Word, Excel, and other commonly used platforms. Experience administering and interpreting assessments. Experience conducting workshops for small groups. Proficiency with computer software and ability to learn new software quickly. Ability to work well with others and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Previous secondary‑school experience, preferably in a high‑school setting, or related professional experience. Travel & Vehicle Travel may be required to sites and training; ability to cover assignments throughout the college service region. Operation of a state vehicle is required.
