This role is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and release of antenna hardware for GM vehicle programs from concept through launch and field support.The ideal candidate brings strong technical breadth across antenna products and vehicle integration, paired with creative problem solving, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This engineer will work cross-functionally with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and program stakeholders to deliver robust, compliant, and manufacturable antenna solutions that meet performance, timing, cost, and quality targets.What You’ll Do:Lead overall communication, coordination, and consultation with engineering teams, suppliers, and internal customersEstablish designs that meet program performance, timing, BOM, BOP, BOD, and serviceability requirementsBalance requirements across systems and support tradeoff decisions to achieve the best overall product outcomeLead component design and release activities for antenna systems including sharkfin antennas, amplifiers, and related hardwareAnalyze designs using Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Plan and implement complex test and development programsDemonstrate compliance to requirements through analysis, development, validation, and release processesRepresent the business unit in supplier and customer technical discussionsRelease final designs for manufacturing or purchase, as appropriateConduct incident analysis and ensure problem resolution through the Jira PRTS systemImplement engineering changes as required, including ECP and Emerge ECM processesParticipate in cost studies, product suggestions, and value analysis activitiesDefine hardware and budget requirements for experimental build programsActively participate in the product development team and lead product development team activities as appropriateSupport supplier quality assurance activities and issue resolutionLead warranty issue investigation and resolutionParticipate in workgroups with interfacing hardware and software teams, as requiredTravel domestically and internationally, as requiredYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 2 years of engineering experienceDemonstrated experience as a Design Release Engineer, or in product development or subsystem engineering for complex engineered productsExperience supporting work through concept, design, validation, launch, and field supportStrong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and issue resolution skills in a fast-paced engineering environmentStrong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teamsFamiliarity with GM engineering processes, systems, and tools, including bills of material, release systems, vehicle development processes, and change management workflowsWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):Master’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering or related field5+ years of engineering experienceDFSS Green Belt certificationExperience with automotive antenna systems, including sharkfin antennas, amplifiers, antenna elements, and related RF hardwareKnowledge of antenna design, development, integration, and validation processesExperience with DFMEA, warranty resolution, and supplier quality processesExperience using GM systems such as Jira PRTS, ECR, ECM, and related release toolsBenefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
