Demonstrate the mission, values and philosophy of Insight Chicago Hospital and Medical Center./ph3Duties and Responsibilities/h3p30%:/pulliExercises independent judgment and leadership on daily operations of the unit and advises the Nurse Manager./liliServes as a clinical, educational and supervisory resource to the nursing staff./li/ulp30%:/pulliManages the appropriate utilization of unit resources (i.e. supplies and labor)./liliPerforms direct nursing care for assigned patients when indicated (see Job Description for Staff Nurse)./liliConducts nursing and patient rounds on the unit several times a day./liliConfers with physicians, as needed, to clarify medical orders and direct care./liliServes as a liaison with staff in nursing, medical staff, social work, therapy, nutritional services, pharmacy, etc. to coordinate care./liliFoster an environment of cultural excellence in order to maintain patient satisfaction./li/ulp20%:/pulliMonitors Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate patient care on the unit./liliAssists unit staff with patient discharges. Provides patients and family members with discharge information regarding medications, follow-up, etc./liliEnsures the enculturation and implementation of the National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures as required by regulatory certifying bodies./liliManages and resolves unit conflict and executes service recovery principles./liliCollaborates with Nurse Manager/House Manager to investigate, advise, and when appropriate, execute disciplinary action in accordance with the IHMC policies and procedures./li/ulp15%:/pulliMakes ongoing assessment of staff performance and providing individual/team feedback./liliPrepares staff performance evaluations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager./liliParticipates in hospital/unit committee/council activities./liliEnsures professional development of self through participation in seminars, certifications, professional affiliations and educational programs to keep abreast of latest trends in their area of expertise./liliIndependently or in collaborations with the Nurse Educator, collects, complies, and reviews staff development activities for each employee.
