Location: Concord, NC
Duration: 8 Weeks
Schedule: 12-Hour Day Shift (36 Hours/Week) | 7:00 AM 7:00 PM | Every Other Weekend

• Teaching Hospital
• Chest Pain Center
• Stroke Center of Excellence
• Bariatric Center of Excellence

Radius Rule

• Traveler's permanent residence must be greater than 50 miles from the home unit

Unit Information

• 32-Bed MedSurg/Telemetry Unit
• Minimum Experience Required: 18 Months MedSurg/Telemetry RN Experience
• First-Time Travelers Accepted

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses Surgical Patients

• Small Bowel Obstructions
• Colectomies
• Colon & Small Bowel Resections
• Nephrectomies
• Hysterectomies
• Mastectomies
• Appendectomies
• Cholecystectomies
• Hernia Repairs
• Splenectomies
• Thyroidectomies

Medical & Specialty Patients

• Kidney Stones
• Pneumothorax
• Bariatric Surgery Patients
• Rib Fractures
• Hip Fractures
• Joint Replacements
• Cellulitis

Patient Ratios RN Staffing

• Typical Ratio: 1:4 1:6
• Surge Staffing: Up to 1:7 1:8

Required Certifications

• Active RN License
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

• Chest Tube Management
• Peripheral IV Starts
• NG Tube Management
• Ostomy Care
• Drain Management
• Wound Care
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Tube Feed Management
• Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation
• General MedSurg & Telemetry Nursing Care

Support Within the Department Nursing Support

• NA4/CNA Support
• Charge Nurse Available 24/7
• Resource Nurse (as staffing allows)

Ancillary Support

• Phlebotomy Available 24/7 (Peripheral Blood Draws)
• IV/Vascular Access Team
• Respiratory Therapy Available 24/7
• Hospitalist Coverage 24/7
• Intensivist Coverage 24/7
• Remote Telemetry Monitoring

Administrative Support

• No Unit Receptionist

• EPIC

• Omnicell Medication Dispensing System

Floating Requirements Required Floating

Travelers must be willing to float within Region 1 based on staffing needs and scope of practice.

Floating Information

• May float to facilities within Region 1 as needed
• If floating during a shift, travelers remain on the clock
• Paid travel time between facilities

Candidates unwilling to float within Region 1 should not be submitted.

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)

Unit Orientation

• 2 Days Department-Specific Orientation

Scheduling Information Shift

• 12-Hour Day Shift
• 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
• 36 Hours Per Week

Weekend Requirement

• Every Other Weekend (EOW)

Schedule Cycle

• Every 6 Weeks

On-Call Requirement

• None

Call Back Requirement

• None

Holiday Requirements

• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays

Time-Off Requests

• Up to 6 Days May Be Approved
• Holidays cannot be included in approved RTO
• Contract may require extension if contracted hours are not met
