About the Role
The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its mission of inspiring stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains. The successful candidate will be a relational, strategic, and mission-centered leader with a strong background in conservation and natural-resource fluency. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include strategic and mission leadership, fundraising, donor engagement, communication, and organizational management. The role demands a leader who can honor the organization's legacy while defining and advancing its priorities, and who is adept at translating the mission into compelling strategies that connect with the community. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in relationship-based fundraising, excellent communication and storytelling skills, and the ability to build trust across a diverse ecosystem. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should possess a background in environmental, conservation, or related fields, and have experience in nonprofit leadership, particularly in a small or mid-sized organization. The role requires a candidate with exceptional communication skills, the ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors, and experience in staff leadership and supervision.
