PARTS FINISHING TECHNICIAN

Location: Oneida, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Hartman Enterprises is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Parts Finishing Technician. This position is responsible for deburring, cleaning, washing, inspecting, and preparing precision-machined components for the next stage of production or final shipment.

The ideal candidate takes pride in producing clean, properly finished parts and can perform repetitive, detail-oriented work while maintaining consistent quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Remove burrs, sharp edges, chips, and machining residue from precision-machined components.
• Use hand files, deburring tools, abrasive pads, brushes, rotary tools, and other approved finishing equipment.
• Wash and clean parts using designated parts-washing equipment, cleaning solutions, and approved procedures.
• Remove oil, coolant, chips, and other contaminants from parts, holes, threads, and internal features.
• Dry parts thoroughly and protect them from corrosion, contamination, scratching, or other damage.
• Visually inspect finished parts for burrs, sharp edges, surface damage, cleanliness, and overall workmanship.
• Use basic measuring or inspection tools as trained and required.
• Follow job travelers, work instructions, blueprints, and customer-specific finishing requirements.
• Take care not to alter critical dimensions, edges, threads, surface finishes, or part features during finishing.
• Maintain part identification, lot control, quantities, and traceability throughout the finishing process.
• Accurately complete job travelers and other required production documentation.
• Count, separate, organize, and stage completed parts for inspection, outside processing, assembly, or shipping.
• Notify the appropriate supervisor or Quality representative of damaged parts, unusual conditions, or discrepancies.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, parts-washing areas, tools, and equipment.
• Follow all safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and cleaning materials.
• Assist with packing, material handling, and other production-support activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous deburring, parts finishing, manufacturing, machine-shop, or production experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow job travelers, written work instructions, and basic blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.
• Dependable, reliable, and committed to consistent attendance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
• Willingness to learn proper deburring, cleaning, inspection, and documentation procedures.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills are helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand/sit for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
