Description Civil Engineering Staff/Engineer-in-Training - Urban Development Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc. has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineering Staff/EIT at our Phoenix office. The Civil Engineering Staff/EIT will work directly with a Professional Engineer to develop professional technical expertise and knowledge necessary to fulfill the experience requirement for licensure as a Professional Engineer. Some experience in Urban Development single-family and multi-family residential developments, commercial and/or industrial site development projects is ideal. Responsibilities for our Civil Engineering Staff/EIT's include drawing/plan preparation of water, sewer, paving, grading and drainage plans for private and public projects. The individual must be capable of and responsible for delivering a quality product in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Position responsibilities will incrementally increase over time and with experience. Location : Phoenix, Arizona (Zip code: 85018, in-office with some telecommute opportunities after 1st 90 days) Employment Type : 40 FT Hours Compensation Type : Salary Education : Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or similar Registration(s) : Registered Engineer-In-Training (EIT), or working towards an EIT Duties Prepare construction plans for private and public development projects. Assist civil design team and project managers with of all aspects of land development design or engineer services. Research materials and assemblies for design and construction drawings as directed by supervisor or Project Managers. Assist with construction support activities such as site visits, documenting/tracking change orders, shop drawing review, responding to RFIs, construction detail modifications, punch list preparation, etc. Assist with research for fee proposals and be willing to learn how to prepare proposals. Compose and prepare graphic materials for presentations and documents. Prepare due diligence reports for prospective projects. Prepare quantity take offs and opinions of probable construction cost. Qualifications BS in Civil Engineering (BSCE). More than 1 years of related civil engineering experience. Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam/current EIT certification is a plus. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Excel. Capability to utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design and construction plans. Strong organizational skills. Good communication skills and work ethic. Works well in a team environment. Thorough attention to detail. Design experience with underground utilities, paving, grading, and utilities. Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
