For over 20 years, The Capstone Grill has been the South Hill's go-to destination for upscale dining, known for serving fresh steaks and seafood sourced from around the globe.

Our mission is to procure, prepare, and serve the highest-quality seafood, meats, and produce in a way that is uniquely our own. We offer a customizable dining experience where guests choose their portion, preparation, and sides, along with a full-service bar and an expansive wine selection available by the bottle or glass.

Our kitchen takes pride in accommodating a variety of dietary needs, including gluten-free and dairy-free preparations, while maintaining high standards for quality, consistency, and preparation. We're looking for people who take pride in their craft and want to grow their upscale hospitality experience as part of a dedicated culinary team.

Open Wednesday through Saturday. Shifts typically run from 1:30pm-10pm Wednesday through Saturday and 11 am-5pm on Tuesday. Closed every Sunday, NO LATE NIGHTS (except Mother's Day), and all major holidays .

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced line cooks to assist in daily prep, dinner service, and closing. If you are tired of cooking from a limited menu, this is a great opportunity to cut your teeth in the upscale hospitality environment.

Our menu changes with what's fresh, our sides and preparations shift by the plate and every shift moves fast. We are always trying new things and challenging ourselves , not just repeating the same ticket day in and day out. We are a team oriented kitchen where chef, cooks, and dishwashers all work together toward a common goal.

Duties

• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, grills, and ovens.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety management practices.
• Assist with meal assembly, portion control, and plating to ensure timely service.
• Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or issues.
• Follow safety standards during food handling and production to ensure a safe working environment.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food industry roles such as restaurant cooking or catering is highly desirable.
• Strong knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient food prep.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
• Experience with menu planning and recipe adherence to maintain consistency.
• Ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment.
• A proactive attitude towards learning new culinary skills and kitchen operations.
