Accounting Assistant

Job Title: Accounting Assistant Pay Rate: $27-$29/hr on W2 Schedule: M-F (37.5 hr/week) Duration: 6-9 Months Location: Irvine CA We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records. You'll play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, billing, and financial reporting while working alongside an experienced accounting team. Key Responsibilities Process and maintain Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions. Assist with monthly billing, invoicing, and payment processing. Prepare and post journal entries into the accounting system. Perform daily cash receipt processing, deposits, and bank reconciliations. Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies. Maintain organized and accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Generate financial reports and assist management with reporting requests. Support month-end closing activities and accounting projects. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation. Conduct research and analysis to resolve accounting variances. Provide administrative support to the accounting department as needed. Cross-train and provide backup support for other accounting functions during staff absences. Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 2–3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a corporate environment. Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills. Excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments. Preferred Skills Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries. Knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close activities. Experience supporting audits and preparing financial reports. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
