Dietary Aide

Under the direction of the Executive Chef or Cook, assists in food preparation, meal serving, tray delivery, kitchen and dining room clean up, and dishwashing. Embraces Honoring Choice dining program in providing for person centered dining and choice.

1. Assists in food preparation in accordance with state specified safe food handling regulations. Wears a hair net or cap at all times in the kitchen.

2. Keeps work areas, counters, and floors clean.

3. Sets up tables in dining room with resident services staff.

4. Assists in plating food for the dining room and preparing trays for apartments.

5. Works with caregivers to serve meals efficiently. Assesses resident meal consumption and reports concerns to Executive Director.

6. Expedites the healthy snack program as outlined in Honoring Choice Program. Prepares and maintains hydration stations in the community.

7. Strives to meet resident family requests in a courteous and timely manner.

8. Works with Executive Chef to clean dining room.

9. Cleans dishes, utensils, pans, etc. according to community procedures.

10. Responsible for safe, sanitary food handling practices and kitchen cleaning procedures. Meets all health department standards for cleanliness.

11. Removes all garbage from kitchen and dining room areas.

12. Assist with other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Chef and/or designated cook.

13. Assist Executive Director and Activities department with snacks and drinks for events and/or programs.

14. Works as a Chancellor team member to maintain a pleasant, effective work environment for staff and caring home environment for the residents.

15. Attends all department meetings, in-services, and conference calls as assigned.

16. Serves on committees as assigned.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Receives general supervision from the Executive Chef and Cook.

Exposure to high temperature water, knives, hot ovens, hot oils, bladed kitchen equipment.

Food preparation bladed equipment, cooking and baking appliances, deep fryer, high temperature dishwasher.

1. Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

2. Must be able to work a rotation of holidays, evenings, and weekends.

3. Experience in food handling preferred.

4. California: May be required to obtain a current First Aid card and a CPR card.

1. Ability to perform repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.

2. Ability to lift 50lbs including cartons of food and supplies, and to push food carts.

3. Ability to work standing for long hours.

1. A desire to work with geriatric and disabled persons.

2. Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.

3. A genuine interest in and respect for people and a desire to be of service to them.

4. Ability to accept and work with persons with differing social and cultural traits.

5. Attention to personal hygiene and grooming, clean uniform, adhere to dress code for position.
