Hiring Range: $90,000 - $130,000 DOQ

The City of Fredericksburg presents an exceptional opportunity for you! The newly created position of Assistant City Engineer within the Public Works team is designed to support the city's ongoing growth and redevelopment efforts. In this role, you will contribute significantly to various projects while being part of a dedicated team committed to serving a vibrant community.
The Assistant City Engineer will assist the City Engineer in the planning, direction, and management of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. Additionally, this position will ensure regulatory compliance and foster collaboration among City departments, citizens, and external agencies regarding engineering and construction activities. Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Six (6) years of experience in the engineering field.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months through reciprocity.

Special Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain Virginia DEQ Erosion & Stormwater Combined Program Administrator certification within 12 months.
