Upper School Math Teacher (One Year Position)

Job Details Job Location: Trustees of Thayer Academy - BRAINTREE, MA 02184 Job Title: Upper School Math Teacher (One-Year Position) What You Will Do Teach a combination of Math classes to 9th-12th graders (4 classes total). Possible courses include Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. Advise a group of 8-10 students. Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members. Serve as an athletic coach for one or more seasons (preferred). Participate in ongoing professional development and engage in growth opportunities. Who We Are Looking For A bachelor’s degree required; a master’s (or higher) preferred in Education, Math, or a related field. 3-5 years of high school teaching experience preferred. Ability to teach Computer Programming. Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships. Commitment to fostering an inclusive community. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, curriculum, and relationships with members of the school community. High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting. Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department. Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families. Commitment to building a reflective teaching practice and an innovative approach to classroom pedagogy. Interest in engaging in ongoing dialogue with division leadership, department head, and colleagues about best teaching and learning practices. Ability to communicate effectively with students, their families, and colleagues.
