SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER

Job Summary:This position reports to and accepts assignments from the CKA Principal. Work closely with CKA staff and parents to provide scheduled bus runs for pick up and delivery of middle school and high school aged students and for field trips and other school activities.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Advise the CKA Principal of transportation issues impacting the program.Work closely with CKA staff and parents to ensure children are bussed safely to and from school and for field trips and other school activities.Observe children and families at pick up and drop off and report any unusual happenings to the Principal.Insure children are released only to the parent, legal guardian or other individual identified in writing by the parent or legal guardian.Clean the bus after each run.Complete daily bus inspections sheets and log in file.Maintain control over passengers as related to safety.Secondary Functions:Promote positive parent and community involvement in CKA.Maintain congenial relations with staff, children, parents and volunteers.Keep current and accurate records and file reports on time.Respect and maintain confidentiality of pertinent information concerning staff and Head Start families.Performs other duties as assigned by the CKA Principal or designee.Knowledge, skills and Abilities:Ability to pay attention to detail and follow through with a task.Possess general knowledge of and adherence to Title 46RW (Revised Code of Washington). Possess general knowledge of and adherence to Chapter 180-20 and 392 WACS (Washington Administrative Code).Possess general knowledge of bus operations and maintenance problems.Job Scope:Performs duties based on direction provided by the CKA Principal.Decisions are made within program guidelines.The bus driver is expected to function as a team member.Job Conditions:The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts of working outside to inspect the bus daily often times in rainy weather and in the winter months during darkness.
