SUMMARY/SCOPE: The LabCoordinator will be responsible for maintaining maintenance and warrantyrecords for lab equipment and will oversee the ordering of supplies forlaboratory courses. The coordinator will provide functional support to thefaculty in lab setup and break down. In that capacity, the coordinator willwork closely with the faculty and the department chairs of biology andchemistry and physical sciences. The coordinator will assist the departmentchairs with oversight of the student workers assigned to the lab(s) anddepartments.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in maintaining budgetsassigned, post expenses, reconcile monthly budget reports and trackdepartmental spending. Supervise labassistants: hire and train all student workers (average 12-19 workers persemester). Fill all open TA positions. Monitor and verify student timecards. Assignstudent worker duties and ensure completion and assist lab workers as needed.
Lab Coordinatorresponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Requisitions, purchase,track and inventory all lab supplies
Maintain purchasingrecords
Coordinator study labs
Maintain equipment andcoordinate maintenance and repair schedules
Maintain biologystockroom and all associated responsibilities to include chemical inventories,slide inventories, specimen inventories, etc.
Coordination ofstudents to worktables for Fall and Winter Preview in Biology Assist faculty withlectures and labs as needed (cover classes for various professors). Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Thesupervisory responsibilities for this position are specific to student workers.

A typical40-hour work week is expected during business hours, Monday - Friday (8AM -5PM) with one hour for lunch during the noon hour (12PM - 1PM). Must beavailable to work occasional overtime to cover evening labs, meet departmentaldeadlines, etc.
All hours worked beyond 40hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and a half, per FLSAguidelines. Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License andmaintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liabilitypolicy.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on andoff campus, as needed.
Additionaltravel may be required on occasion in order to attend training, etc.
