Oncology Insurance Authorization Specialist Location: Remote – Must reside near Allen, Garland, or Richardson, TX Pay: $25–$27/hour, based on experience Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire Work Setting: Remote (local candidates required) Benefits This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k). Position Overview Addison Group is hiring for our client, a large and established oncology healthcare organization, seeking an experienced Insurance Authorization Specialist to support chemotherapy and specialty cancer treatment authorizations. This position is responsible for obtaining insurance approvals, reviewing medical necessity requirements, resolving authorization issues, and ensuring patients receive timely access to treatment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in oncology, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment authorizations and understands the urgency and complexity of securing approvals for specialty medical services. Key Responsibilities Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for chemotherapy and oncology treatments Review medical necessity documentation and payer requirements Monitor pending authorizations and follow up within 24 hours Manage authorization queues for upcoming appointments, working at least one week ahead Research denied or rejected authorization requests and determine appropriate next steps Communicate coverage restrictions, payer requirements, and authorization updates to clinical teams Identify alternative funding resources for treatments not covered by insurance Assist patients with insurance and reimbursement-related questions Maintain accurate documentation and authorization records Stay current on insurance guidelines, medical policies, and oncology authorization requirements Participate in team meetings and ongoing workflow discussions Qualifications 2–3+ years of medical insurance authorization or precertification experience preferred Oncology, chemotherapy, or radiation oncology authorization experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of insurance plans, payer guidelines, and medical necessity requirements Experience researching authorization denials and reimbursement issues Comfortable communicating with insurance carriers and clinical staff Ability to manage high-priority authorizations and meet strict deadlines Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working independently in a remote environment Additional Relevant Experience Oncology Financial Counselor or Benefits Coordinator Chemotherapy or infusion authorization Radiation oncology authorization Oncology denial management Specialty medication or treatment authorization Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
