SALARY: $22.00/ Hour - This is a non-benefited position.

Description:

The GIS Intern will primarily assist with digitizing and maintaining spatial data for road centerlines, road surface types, culvert and bridges for the GIS Division both digitally and in the field. The control points will meet the standard for the GIS team. As time and tasks permit, will work on address point placement data, and various other GIS-related projects for other departments.

Requirements:

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of land surveying or the ability and discipline to learn the fundamentals of land surveying.
• Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, geometry and trigonometry.
• The ability to perform survey analysis of field data or the ability to learn.
• Read and interpret survey maps, deeds and engineering plans or the ability to learn.
• Course work in surveying and GIS preferred.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with office staff, contractors, and the general public.
• Prior experience operating GPS and conventional surveying equipment is highly recommended.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments and perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Self-motivation and a willingness to function as a team member with the ability to interact well with the general public and various agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to operate various types of office machines (computers, calculators, copy, etc.)
• Must successfully pass a criminal history records check.
• Valid Oregon driver's license and good driving record.
• This is a safety sensitive position requiring successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
