Operations Group Lead (Industrial Solutions)

Position Operations Supervisor (Industrial Solutions) Location Hendersonville, NC Job Purpose The new state‑of‑the‑art facility dedicated to creating power generation systems for data centers and microgrid applications will require an Operations Supervisor to manage all business aspects of a 3‑shift, 7‑day operation, ensuring production demands are met while driving long‑term growth and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Ensure a safe work environment by following company policies. Drive investigation and root cause analysis for all safety related incidents within the department. Define area KPI performance metrics with the Operations Manager. Drive daily production meetings to ensure execution of the next 24 hours of production. Drive weekly core team meetings and actions to achieve long‑term goals related to safety, quality, launch, and productivity. Participate in and approve the scheduling of the production area and any required overtime. Perform weekly LPA to align Safety, Quality, TPM, and Environmental aspects. Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions. Execute departmental disciplinary actions, corrective actions, and terminations. Oversee all departmental activities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Manage area performance measures and individual employee work performance; coach and direct employees at all levels. Support all shifts for manufacturing, including weekends when necessary. Maintain required documents such as standard work, process sheets, control plans, FMEA, FPPA, job instructions, etc. Ensure proper and timely disposition of parts on hold for rework or scrap. Actively support downtime, quality, or performance needs through troubleshooting and problem‑solving using tools like 8D, 6‑Sigma, etc. Ensure future program needs are met through evaluation of department capacity, OEE, cycle times, etc. Develop working relationships across manufacturing, quality, HR, IT, accounting, materials, and equipment suppliers to facilitate process improvements. Lead and motivate employees per BorgWarner philosophy. Provide adequate training and development, ensuring the departmental training matrix is maintained and cross‑training is conducted. Ensure accurate and effective communication through shift change‑over meetings. Maintain 5S+ Gold Level throughout the section. Drive accountability through Team Leader reports for line output and other KPIs. Propose recovery plans to recover downtime and meet line targets. Maintain effective escalation procedures within the team. Actively drive the department’s positive impact on the PnL. Perform other duties as needed. What We’re Looking For Four‑year degree is preferred. 5‑8 years of relevant experience (automotive preferred). Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with proven safety or quality programs such as Kaizen is a plus. Knowledge of advanced aspects of products/processes managed. Experienced and capable of building, leading, and motivating teams. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Fundamental knowledge of machine design principles, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine control. Thorough knowledge of project management techniques and tools (Gantt, PERT charts). Thorough knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments principles. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules, and regulations.
