Company Description Caring Hearts Childcare Center is a nonprofit early childhood program preparing to open in Falmouth, Maine, serving children ages 18 months through pre-K. The center's vision is to provide safe, affordable, and nurturing childcare that supports children's social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical development in a warm, child-centered environment. Caring Hearts has secured funding, obtained its childcare license, and hired a Director, and is now finalizing program details, preparing classrooms, and organizing enrollment. The center is especially committed to supporting working families facing challenges with the cost or availability of childcare, including those using or applying for CCAP childcare assistance. Caring Hearts aims to create an accessible program where children are supported, families are respected, and every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive. Role Description The Lead Childcare Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Falmouth, ME. This role is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 18 months through pre-K, fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment. Day-to-day tasks include guiding children's learning and play, supporting social-emotional development, communicating regularly with families, and collaborating with the Director and team to align with program goals and licensing standards. The Lead Childcare Teacher will supervise classroom routines, maintain health and safety practices, document observations, and participate in ongoing professional development. This role also includes mentoring support staff, contributing to classroom setup and organization, and helping create a positive and collaborative center culture. Qualifications Strong pedagogy and early childhood education knowledge, including experience with preschool or kindergarten-aged children. Demonstrated childcare skills and ability to create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. High level of creativity skills to design engaging activities that support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Easily adaptable to changing classroom needs, individual child differences, and evolving program requirements. Previous experience as a lead or assistant teacher in an early childhood setting preferred. Relevant coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field strongly preferred; willingness to meet Maine licensing requirements required. Clear, respectful communication skills with children, families, and colleagues; ability to build trusting relationships. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of care and education. Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including active supervision, lifting up to 40 lbs as needed, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities.
