The Vice President, Corporate Communications, leads an integrated enterprise communications strategy that advances the company’s business priorities, increases teammate awareness and engagement, and protects and enhances the company’s brand with clients, business partners, industry stakeholders, and the media. Serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, this role shapes the corporate narrative and leads executive, internal, media, crisis, and reputation communications across earned, owned, shared, and paid channels. The Vice President partners closely with Marketing, HR, Legal, Finance, and business leadership to ensure communications are consistent, timely, compelling, and measurably effective.

This role is based in the CRC corporate headquarters located in Charlotte, NC and an in-office candidate is preferred.

• Develop and lead a cohesive internal communications strategy that informs, engages, and aligns teammates with company priorities while amplifying culture.

• Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leadership, developing enterprise narratives, executive messaging, speeches, talking points, presentations, teammate communications, and external thought-leadership opportunities.

• Manage internal communications platforms and channels, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and effective.

• Lead the company’s media relations strategy and cultivate trusted relationships with influential industry, business, and trade media to strengthen the company’s brand and reputation, increase leadership visibility, and advance its strategic priorities.

• Lead enterprise crisis communications and issues-management planning, including scenario preparation, stakeholder messaging, media response, executive counsel, and post-event evaluation, in close partnership with Legal, HR, Risk, and business leadership.

• Lead communications for enterprise transformation, organizational change, and other major business initiatives, developing stakeholder strategies, leader toolkits, listening mechanisms, and communications plans that build understanding, confidence, and adoption.

• Develop and execute strategic media plans to align earned media, sponsored content, trade advertising, social channels, and other paid communications with the company’s corporate narrative and business priorities.

• Oversee the planning, placement, and performance of paid media campaigns in targeted industry media (digital, print, sponsored content, etc.).

• Monitor industry media for coverage opportunities and stay ahead of trends relevant to the business.

• Establish an integrated communications measurement framework and executive dashboard that assesses channel effectiveness, message penetration, share of voice, media sentiment, reputation, thought-leadership impact, and contribution to business priorities; use insights to continuously improve strategy, content, channel mix, and investment.

• Champion the responsible use of AI, analytics, and workflow automation across internal and external communications including audience insights, content development and repurposing, personalization, media monitoring, social listening, distribution, and performance reporting to improve speed, consistency, reach, and effectiveness while maintaining human judgment, brand standards, and appropriate governance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is required.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, with demonstrated ownership of internal communications strategy and experience managing cross-functional stakeholders, required. Expertise in both internal communications and media relations is required.

• Experience partnering with HR, Legal, Finance, or other shared-services functions in a matrixed organization, including establishing or improving communications intake, briefing, or governance processes, is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated success advising and working closely with senior leaders to refine messaging.

• Proven crisis and reputation-management experience.

• Track record of translating complex business issues into compelling stakeholder communications.

• Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated and relationship-driven industry strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated fluency with communications analytics, media-intelligence platforms, generative AI, and workflow-automation tools.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

• Strong network and experience working with media in the insurance or financial services sector.

• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with a strong grasp of brand voice and tone.

• Experience leading internal communication strategies in large, complex organizations.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders with confidence and efficiency.

• Proficiency with internal communication platforms and tools, as well as media monitoring and PR platforms.
