Level 4 Central Office Installer

Position Summary

• Senior, lead-level Central Office Installer responsible for running central office installation projects from start to closeout.
• Leads small installation crews.
• Ensures quality control and carrier-standard compliance on site.
• Executes complex MOPs (Methods of Procedure) in live Central Office environments.
• Serves as the primary on-site point of contact for carriers.

• Reports to: Field Supervisor / Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Project Execution

• Lead crews of 2-6 installers.
• Assign daily tasks and establish work sequencing.
• Track progress against project schedules.
• Train and mentor Level 1-3 installers.
• Conduct tailgate safety meetings and briefings.

Planning & Documentation

• Review job packages, engineering drawings, and cable run lists before work begins.
• Identify and resolve design discrepancies with carrier engineering teams.
• Complete:
• • Red-line drawings
  • As-built documentation
  • Test results
  • Closeout photos
  • Final project documentation

Central Office Installation

• Perform framing and superstructure installation.
• Install and mount telecommunications equipment.
• Complete power and grounding installations.
• Install and terminate:
• • Copper cabling
  • Fiber optic cabling
  • Coaxial cabling
• Perform equipment decommissioning and removals.

DC Power & MOP Execution

• Plan and execute complex MOPs in live Central Office environments.
• Perform DC power installations and modifications.
• Install and modify BDFBs (Battery Distribution Fuse Bays).
• Complete fuse panel additions.
• Execute equipment cutovers.

Testing & Troubleshooting

• Test and verify:
• • DC power systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Circuit continuity
  • Fiber circuits
  • Copper circuits
• Troubleshoot installation and connectivity issues.
• Utilize:
• • OTDRs
  • Power meters
  • Light sources
  • Torque tools
  • Crimping tools

Quality & Compliance

• Conduct self-audits to ensure compliance with carrier standards.
• Ensure compliance with:
• • AT&T TP76300
  • Telcordia GR-1275
  • Verizon standards
  • T-Mobile standards
• Resolve audit findings and quality concerns.

Customer & Carrier Relations

• Serve as on-site point of contact for:
• • Carrier engineers
  • Site managers
  • Customer representatives
  • Site escorts
• Maintain professional communication with carrier personnel.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 6+ years of Central Office or telecom equipment installation experience.
• Minimum 2 years leading crews, projects, or installation teams.

Technical Expertise

• Expert knowledge of:
• • DC power systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Live-office MOP execution
  • Carrier installation standards
  • Carrier audit requirements
• Ability to independently interpret:
• • Engineering drawings
  • Installation packages
  • Cable running lists
• Ability to identify design errors before installation.

Communication & Documentation

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Accurate documentation and reporting abilities.

Certifications

Required

• OSHA 10

Preferred

• Fiber certifications
• Carrier-specific training and certifications

Tools & Transportation

• Own hand tools.
• Valid driver's license.
• Clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work on ladders for extended periods.
