Details Neuro unit within a Med/Surg setting focused on general medicine with a neurological patient focus Patient ratio of 1:6 Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:45-7:15) 36 or 48 hour weekly options accepted Every other weekend requirement (5-6 weekend shifts per schedule) Floating required, with travelers floated first Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required BLS and ACLS certification required NIHSS certification preferred Neuro experience preferred Prior charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the role preferred Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred Experience with telemetry and MS/Tele settings preferred IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management skills required Teaching hospital experience preferred Must pass EKG testing prior to start Additional Information Provide medical-surgical nursing care with an emphasis on neurological patients including CVA cases Use a teamwork approach focused on patient safety 24-hour unit orientation provided Navy blue scrubs required and not provided by facility Must work 2 of 3 major holidays Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week of assignment Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission First-time travelers will be considered for this position Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate American Traveler Job ID P-750102.
