Special Education Teacher | Pendleton, Indiana

Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher, working full-time in a supportive high school environment. This contract position offers an opportunity to create a nurturing classroom for approximately 10 students within a Life Skills program. As you guide learners toward greater independence, you’ll collaborate with dedicated colleagues and become an important part of a caring educational community.

Key Qualifications:

Active Indiana teaching license in Special Education (present documentation upon application)
Experience or strong interest in teaching high school students with diverse needs, specifically in Life Skills programs
Commitment to fostering inclusion and individualized support
Strong classroom management and communication abilities
Capacity to build rapport with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Role Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored instruction and support to high school students within a Life Skills classroom
Develop, adapt, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet each learner’s goals
Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting approaches as needed for success
Work collaboratively with school staff and support personnel to ensure a positive, engaging classroom experience
Create a safe and welcoming environment focused on helping each student reach their fullest potential
Maintain accurate records and effective communication with families

Role Details:

Contract from August 3, 2026, through June 7, 2027
Full-time schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:20 am–2:30 pm
Onsite position located at the high school
