Litigation Associate Attorney – Consumer FinanceDirect Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate to join the Consumer Finance Litigation Practice of a leading Am Law firm in Los Angeles. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3+ years of experience defending financial institutions and lenders in complex consumer finance litigation before state and federal courts and arbitration forums.The ideal candidate has substantial experience representing clients in the consumer lending industry and defending claims brought under federal and California consumer protection statutes, including class action matters.ResponsibilitiesDefend financial institutions, lenders, and servicers in consumer finance litigation in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.Handle matters involving credit card, mortgage, auto finance, and other consumer lending disputes.Defend claims arising under the: Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)Truth in Lending Act (TILA)Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)California Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices ActCalifornia Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA)Related California consumer protection statutes and common law claimsDraft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, and other litigation filings.Manage all phases of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.Collaborate with clients and litigation teams to develop practical, business-focused defense strategies.Assist in defending complex consumer finance class actions and other high-exposure litigation matters.QualificationsJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.3+ years of consumer finance litigation experience at a law firm.Significant experience defending lenders, financial institutions, or loan servicers in consumer finance disputes.Strong knowledge of federal and California consumer protection laws, including FCRA, FDCPA, TILA, TCPA, Rosenthal Act, and CCRAA.Experience with consumer class action defense is highly preferred.Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.Ability to manage multiple sophisticated litigation matters in a fast-paced environment.Active membership in the California Bar.Ability to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary of $260,000–$435,000, depending on experience.Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and additional firm-sponsored wellness and professional development programs.Opportunity to work alongside a nationally recognized consumer finance litigation team representing leading financial institutions in complex, high-profile matters.
