The Batch Maker plays a key role in our manufacturing process by accurately following product formulas and directions to produce batches ready for packaging in the Wet or Bakery department. This entry-level position involves organizing materials and ingredients, handling and measuring materials, operating equipment, and ensuring product quality according to food manufacturing standards.

Essential functions include:

• Following precise formula instructions to produce high-quality products, using iPads and scanners throughout the batch-making process.
• Understanding machine operation, ingredient sequencing, and identification of minor ingredients. Setting up equipment required for batch processing.
• Filling blenders with pre-measured materials, managing weights up to 4,000 lbs. per batch (individual bags weighing 50 lbs. or less).
• Producing multiple batches per day, depending on the production line requirements.
• Monitoring the quality of raw materials, focusing on color, consistency, aroma, and texture, and reporting any substandard materials to the group leader or supervisor.
• Monitoring the quality of packaging and equipment, and reporting any issues to the group leader and supervisor.
• Completing all related paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety rules and procedures, including PPE.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to read and follow instructions accurately.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency in operating material handling equipment, such as electric pallet jacks or manual hand jacks.

Supervisory responsibilities include:

Work environment includes:

• Work performed on the manufacturing floor, with exposure to machinery noise and varying temperatures.

Physical demands include:

• Prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors.
• Frequent climbing steps, bending, lifting, and twisting.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Varying shifts, with potential for overtime based on production needs.

Travel:

• No travel required.

Required education & experience:

• Willingness and ability to work varying shifts and schedules.

Preferred education & experience:

• Experience with operating material handling equipment.

Additional eligibility items:

• Certification in operating material handling equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
