Substitute Food Service

Under supervision, prepares and serves food in a cafeteria, serving kitchen or central kitchen; maintains food service facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties

• Assist in the preparation of main dishes, vegetables, salads, fruits, sandwiches, and beverages.
• Assist in baking of breads, cookies, cakes, pastries and other desserts.
• Set up utensils and equipment for lunches.
• Serve a wide variety of lunches and snacks to students, faculty and others.
• May assist with the collection of moneys received from the sale of school lunches, snacks and other food stuffs.
• Clean and store dishes, utensils, cafeteria equipment and food supplies.
• Clean work areas and dispose of refuse.
• May assist with wrapping, packing and loading of food for transport to satellite serving kitchen.
• May assist in taking inventory.
• May supervise student helpers.
• Operate mixer, grinder, dishwasher and other equipment common to large kitchens.
• Perform other duties as requested
