Product Design Engineer

One of Apple’s R&D groups is currently seeking a senior product design engineer. This engineer will be responsible for mechanical design of mechanisms and mechatronic systems from concept generation through physical implementation and validation. Description

In this role you will partner with cross‑functional teams such as electrical, controls, and embedded firmware engineers to realize mechatronic system designs.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design (3D and 2D drawings)
• Mechanism design and integration
• Electrical component integration (sensors, electronics, wiring, and harnesses)
• Prototype, evaluate, develop, and harden designs
• Close collaboration with cross‑functional teams

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or similar field
• 5+ years of hands‑on, mechanism and mechatronic product design experience
• Experience selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments
• Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills
• Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
• Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi‑disciplinary teams
• Detail orientated and capable of handling multiple assignments at once

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or PhD in mechanical engineering or similar field
• Fluent in Siemens NX including surfacing tools
• Experience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experience
• Experience leading teams through product development cycle from concept development to production bring up

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
