Product Design Engineer

Job Title: Product Design Mechanical Engineer Location: Sunnyvale, CA - Onsite Employment Type: 12 Months Contract with extension About the Role Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Design Mechanical Engineer to join our cross-functional hardware team. You will be responsible for the mechanical design, integration, and validation of next-generation products, including AR/VR devices, wearables, and data infrastructure. Responsibilities Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analysis to validate mechanical integrity and safety. Drive DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles from concept to mass production. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for battery-related mechanical issues. Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure quality and reliability of battery components. Design and develop mechanical enclosures and integration solutions for lithium-ion battery packs and cells Support regulatory compliance and safety certifications (e.g., UN38.3, UL, IEC). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of consumer electronics or battery systems or energy storage devices. Proficiency in CAD tools (NX). Experience in consumer electronics, automotive, or wearable device industries Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems. Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, materials, and safety considerations Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, ultrasonic welding, etc.).
